William B. (Brad) McConnell hails from Vinton, Virginia. He is a double graduate from the University of Virginia with a B.S. degree in Biology and an M.S. degree in Biology with a focus on Developmental Genetics. In 2004, Mr. McConnell received a commission as an Officer in the U.S. Army. Mr. McConnell’s graduate studies were interrupted in 2008 when he was activated by the Army and deployed to Iraq to serve in a combat zone in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on terrorism. During his deployment, then First Lieutenant McConnell served as a battalion Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO), Convoys Officer, and Safety Officer. Also during his deployment, then First Lieutenant McConnell managed to successfully compose and defend his graduate thesis during what little free time he had. Upon returning stateside, Mr. McConnell was awarded a number of accolades for his service, among them the Army Commendation Medal and the Commanding General’s Award for Outstanding Safety. Captain McConnell currently serves as a Strategic Planner in the U.S. Army Active Reserves with the 75th Innovation Command in Houston, TX.
Mr. McConnell attended law school at Seton Hall Law School in Newark, NJ, known for its exemplary Health Law and Intellectual Property programs. While attending law school Mr. McConnell distinguished himself as the winner of the Bob & Margot Meyer God Bless America scholarship and was elected by his peers to be a Bar Association Senator and later served on Executive Board. Mr. McConnell was the founder and first president of Brothers in Arms, the law school’s first charitable Veterans organization.
In 2011, Mr. McConnell clerked for the Honorable Edward T. O’Connor, Jr. in the Hudson County Superior Court of the Civil Division. Upon graduating from Seton Hall Law in 2013, Mr. McConnell had the distinction of being the head law clerk to the Honorable Peter J. Velasquez, the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of the Criminal Division in Essex County, the largest and busiest county in the State of New Jersey.
Mr. McConnell moved to Houston, passed the Texas Bar, and became licensed to practice in the State of Texas in 2014. Prior to joining Hendershot, Cowart & Hisey, P.C. in 2019, Mr. McConnell first worked in the oil and gas industry, performing title searches and rendering title opinions. Mr. McConnell then worked with medical practitioners, laboratories, and hospitals in the healthcare industry ensuring compliance with HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Law, the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid policies. Mr. McConnell then transitioned to working at a general practice law firm in Houston where he attained a broad range of experience representing clients in a variety of civil matters, including contract drafting and review, contract negotiations, breach of contract, labor & employment compliance, sexual harassment, negotiated corporate ownership buyouts, and business structuring and formation.
At Hendershot, Cowart & Hisey, P.C., Mr. McConnell primarily focuses on health & medical law, business law, and business litigation. Mr. McConnell believes that in aggressive and zealous legal representation combined with educating clients about the legal process so that clients can make informed decisions about the direction of their cases.
Mr. McConnell is a member of the State Bar of Texas civil litigation and military law sections.
Mr. McConnell is an avid sports fan who enjoys fitness and reading scripture. Mr. McConnell most enjoys spending time outdoors with his baby girl, Milana, and his wife, Olga.
