OSHA Releases List of Top 10 Workplace Safety Violations in 2019
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has a vested interest in sharing its data with employers and employees – it alerts them to some of the most common violations to avoid, and the underlying factors that lead to preventable accidents. That’s precisely why Big Picture data detailing things like the most-cited workplace safety violations are big news.
In early September, OSHA released its latest Top 10 list of workplace safety violations for FY 2019. These include:
- Fall Protection – Gen. Requirements
- Hazard Communication
- Lockout / Tagout
- Respiratory Protection
- Powered Industrial Trucks
- Fall Protection – Training Requirements
- Machine Guarding
- Eye and Face Protection
Violations can pose major repercussions for employers, which is why it becomes critical for companies subject to OSHA oversight to take proactive measures for ensuring compliance and avoiding citations – as well as waging a carefully calculated defense strategy when citations have been issued.
