Katy Penick enjoys getting to know her clients, their businesses, and the industries in which they operate. She considers it an important first step to forming a legal strategy that supports and defends their unique business model and the risks they face.
Katy joined Hendershot Cowart P.C. in 2023 to broaden the diversity of her litigation experience. She was also attracted to the collaborative culture of the firm. For all matters within a practice area, every attorney is encouraged to provide input, even if that attorney is not actively working on the case. This approach allows Hendershot Cowart to bring the entire law firm's resources, expertise, and experience to bear on every matter.
Katy hails from Little Rock, Arkansas; attended university in Athens, Georgia; and earned her law degree from Tulane University Law School. As a Houston transplant, she has quickly come to appreciate the food scene and many live music venues the city has to offer – some of her best experiences have been discovered while simply wandering this diverse city.
Katy was inspired to pursue law as a career by her father, who bore the nickname “bulldog” for the way he fought for those he represented. His passion for the law and compassion for his clients inspired Katy’s approach to client service and instilled a competitive spirit that guides her today.
