About

"Watching my parents run their own business, I understand what's at stake when someone is a business owner. It's your livelihood – a lawsuit can derail that progress. That's why getting an attorney involved early matters."

– Sarah C. Caton

Sarah Caton is a commercial litigation attorney who brings a business-minded perspective to resolving complex disputes. Growing up watching her parents build their own commercial real estate business, she developed an early appreciation for the challenges business owners face and how legal issues can disrupt even well-run operations. She emphasizes early intervention and practical solutions that get clients back to what they do best – running their companies.

Sarah's litigation practice focuses on business disputes, including shareholder and partnership conflicts, breach of contract claims, and intellectual property matters. She also handles regulatory investigations and administrative law, and she is a certified mediator, bringing additional dispute resolution skills to her practice.

Before joining Hendershot Cowart P.C., Sarah worked at several firms handling civil litigation matters ranging from personal injury and wrongful death to business disputes and intellectual property claims. She also clerked at the Smith County District Attorney's office, where she gained valuable courtroom experience observing criminal proceedings and preparing witnesses for trial.

What clients appreciate most about Sarah is her balanced approach. She is encouraging but realistic, anchoring her counsel in the facts of each case. "I don't want to give false hope, nor do I want anyone to overreact," she explains. “There is always a path forward."

Originally from Tyler, Texas, Sarah moved to Houston for law school and stayed for the career opportunities. When not working on client matters, she enjoys cooking (her favorite way to de-stress), taking her 120-pound dog on walks, and spending time with friends at dog-friendly patios around Houston.
