Mandie C. Eichenlaub
About
“I lead with the bottom line, tell clients the hard thing early instead of burying it, and move from the facts to what they mean to what we do next. No jargon for its own sake and no false comfort – you will always know where you stand and what the next step is.”
— Mandie Craft Eichenlaub
Mandie Craft Eichenlaub represents physicians, medical practices, and healthcare organizations in government and payor investigation and enforcement matters – a rapidly expanding area of exposure for providers across Texas. Her practice covers Medicare and Medicaid audits, overpayment and recoupment actions, civil investigative demands and subpoenas, False Claims Act and qui tam exposure, and investigations by the HHS Office of Inspector General, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Office of Inspector General, and other state and federal agencies.
Alongside investigation defense, Mandie also handles payer-provider reimbursement disputes and managed care contract litigation; medical board and licensing defense; employment disputes; credentialing and peer review matters, including NPDB reporting exposure; and healthcare regulatory compliance and healthcare contracts.
Mandie brings more than 20 years in healthcare law to that work, most of it earned in-house and on both sides of the table. She has served as in-house counsel at a hospital system, a managed care executive at a local mental health authority, and senior in-house counsel at a Texas managed care organization, where she oversaw the legal operations. That dual perspective, provider and payer, means she understands how reimbursement coverage decisions are made and investigations initiated – because she’s made those decisions herself. She earned her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and her B.A. in Business, with a minor in Theatre, from Southwestern University.
A formative experience with the justice system during her teenage years shaped Mandie's sense of purpose early: a belief that everyone deserves someone who will stand between them and an institution with far more power and resources than they have, and do it with integrity. That conviction drives her work today.
Mandie joined Hendershot Cowart P.C. because the firm treats healthcare and the businesses that operate in it as a core practice, not a side department, making it the right place to go deep on the healthcare litigation, disputes, and regulatory work she cares about most.
“Clients consistently tell me they appreciate my honesty, and my ability to break a complex healthcare-legal problem down into plain terms. I want my clients to always understand where they stand and why.”
A native Houstonian, Mandie built her entire career in the city that raised her, including law school at the University of Houston Law Center. Outside of practice, she has volunteered with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for more than 25 years, serves on the Houston Chapter leadership team of the Southwestern University Alumni Association, and served on the March of Dimes March for Babies board from 2022 to 2023. She remains active in the Texas home care and hospice community through the Texas Association for Home Care & Hospice.
